PART 1 — GETTING TO THE PARTY

Samuel drops us outside the Boyle Estate area.

Unfortunately, the streets aren’t exactly welcoming.

There are guards and Tallboys between us and the party.

We’re maintaining Clean Hands, so we’re not fighting our way through.

Use rooftops, elevated paths, Blink, and alternate routes to avoid patrols.

Take your time.

We’re heading toward the mansion.

THE INVITATION

There’s an invitation that can be obtained outside the party.

Get one and approach the entrance normally.

Yes.

Normally.

We’re actually going through the front door.

No climbing through a sewer.

No breaking through a window.

No sneaking through somebody’s basement.

We have an invitation.

We’re civilized now.

WELCOME TO THE BOYLE PARTY

Once we’re inside the estate grounds, something unusual happens:

WE’RE ALLOWED TO BE HERE.

As long as we behave ourselves, the guests aren’t hostile.

So PUT AWAY anything that makes Corvo look threatening.

Walk around.

Talk to people.

Enjoy the party.

We’re basically undercover.

Except we’re wearing Corvo’s terrifying mask.

Apparently nobody finds this suspicious.

RULEBOOK CALLBACK

Remember:

RULE #1

IF THEY’RE UNCONSCIOUS, THEY’RE NOW OUR RESPONSIBILITY.

Hopefully we won’t need that one much tonight.

And:

RULE #2

NONLETHAL DOES NOT MEAN NICE.

…

We’re DEFINITELY going to need that one.

PART 2 — DON’T RUIN THE PARTY

If we’re going for Well Mannered, we need to keep things calm.

Don’t cause panic.

Don’t trigger the guards.

Don’t start using supernatural abilities in the middle of the ballroom.

Basically:

ACT LIKE A GUEST.

For the first time in this entire game, the safest strategy is literally:

Behave yourself.

Corvo has defeated guards, Overseers and security systems.

Now comes his greatest challenge:

SOCIAL ETIQUETTE.

OPTIONAL — LORD SHAW

Pendleton may have given us a note to deliver to Lord Shaw.

This leads to an optional duel.

But we’re doing:

CLEAN HANDS.

So we’re skipping anything that would require us to deliberately kill somebody.

Sorry, Pendleton.

You’ll have to resolve your rich-person argument yourself.

We’ve got a party to infiltrate.

PART 3 — LORD BRISBY

Look around the party for a strange guest named:

LORD BRISBY.

Talk to him privately.

Brisby knows why Corvo is here.

More importantly, he offers us something extremely valuable:

A NONLETHAL SOLUTION.

He wants Lady Boyle delivered to him alive.

In exchange, he’ll take her away.

Permanently.

…

Oh.

Ohhhhh.

Rule #2.

You’re back.

RULE #2 REMINDER

NONLETHAL DOES NOT MEAN NICE.

Campbell?

Alive.

Pendleton twins?

Alive.

Lady Boyle?

Also going to survive.

Dishonored has somehow made me increasingly uncomfortable every time I say that.

PART 4 — IDENTIFY LADY BOYLE

Now we need to determine which Boyle sister is our actual target.

The sisters wear:

Red

White

and

Black.

But their identities and which sister is the target can vary.

One useful route is speaking with Miss White, the guest wearing a moth-like mask.

She wants a drink.

Get her one from the party.

Talk to her again, and she can provide useful information about the sisters.

You can also investigate upstairs to learn more.

Eventually we want to establish:

WHICH BOYLE IS OUR TARGET?

Once you know:

Remember her color.

PART 5 — UPSTAIRS

The upstairs area is restricted.

Meaning we have returned to normal Dishonored gameplay.

That was a nice five minutes.

Sneak upstairs without being detected.

We’re looking for information AND collectibles.

SOKOLOV PAINTING #1

One painting is located upstairs in the:

TROPHY / DISPLAY ROOM.

Take it.

Apparently nobody at this party notices that the masked stranger who arrived twenty minutes ago is slowly stealing the decorations.

SOKOLOV PAINTING #2

Our second painting is located in one of the Boyle sisters’ bedrooms.

Its exact location depends on the mission setup, so search the bedrooms carefully.

Grab it before leaving.

If you’ve followed our painting route from the previous missions, we’re continuing our progress toward:

ART DEALER.

BACK TO THE PARTY

Once we’ve learned everything we need, return downstairs without being detected.

Remember:

We’re trying for Well Mannered.

The party should still be going like nothing happened.

Nobody screaming.

Nobody running.

Nobody yelling:

“THERE’S A MASKED MAN STEALING ALL THE PAINTINGS!”

Excellent.

PART 6 — TALK TO THE CORRECT LADY BOYLE

Find your target.

Talk to her.

The exact conversation varies depending on which Boyle sister you’re dealing with.

Our goal is to convince her to go somewhere private.

Specifically:

THE CELLAR.

Tell her enough about the danger she’s in to convince her to meet you downstairs.

Then follow her.

Do NOT cause a scene.

We’re essentially removing the target from the party without anybody realizing she’s being removed.

INTO THE CELLAR

Once Lady Boyle reaches the cellar and you’re safely away from witnesses, follow the nonlethal objective.

Lord Brisby is waiting below.

This is where we’re delivering her.

And once that’s done…

Target neutralized.

ZERO KILLS.

CLEAN HANDS CHECK

Did we kill Lady Boyle?

No.

Did we kill any guards?

No.

Did we kill Lord Shaw?

No.

Did we massacre the party?

NO.

Beautiful.

Clean Hands continues.

ABOUT LORD BRISBY’S SOLUTION

We’re not going into unnecessary detail about what happens afterward.

All we need to know for the achievement route is:

Lady Boyle is removed as the Lord Regent’s supporter.

She’s alive.

Our target has been neutralized.

And Rule #2 has once again been proven correct.

Very, VERY correct.

LEAVING THE PARTY

Now comes the funniest part.

Walk back into the party.

Nobody knows what just happened.

Everyone is still drinking.

Everyone is still dancing.

And Corvo can basically walk toward the exit thinking:

“Yep. Completely normal party. Nothing unusual happened here.”

Leave the estate without causing an alarm.

Then make your way back toward Samuel.

END-OF-MISSION ACHIEVEMENTS

If we handled everything correctly, we’re working toward or earning several things.

CLEAN HANDS

Lady Boyle was neutralized without being killed, and nobody else died.

WELL MANNERED

We completed the Boyle Estate mission without ruining the party.

ART DEALER PROGRESS

We collected both Sokolov paintings.

And if we remained completely undetected throughout the appropriate portions of the mission, this is also a particularly good mission for stealth-related achievements.

COLLECTIBLE CHECK

Before leaving Mission 5:

□ 3 Runes

□ 2 Bone Charms

□ 2 Sokolov Paintings

Painting locations:

□ Upstairs trophy/display room

□ One of the upstairs Boyle bedrooms

Don’t leave the estate permanently until you’re satisfied you’ve collected everything you want.

END-OF-MISSION STATISTICS

You know what’s coming.

CHECK THE SCREEN.

We need:

✓ DIDN’T KILL ANYONE

If we have that:

Clean Hands survives Mission 5.

If there’s a kill:

STOP.

Reload.

Don’t continue and hope the game forgets.

The game remembers.

The game ALWAYS remembers.
