MOON — Richtofen’s Grand Scheme

Before you start

The quest has two achievements:

🥶 Cryogenic Slumber Party — the first half and can be completed solo.

🌎 Big Bang Theory — the full ending. In original BO1, you need multiplayer and the Richtofen player needs the quest items obtained through completing Call of the Dead and Shangri-La beforehand.

You’ll also need several map-specific Mystery Box items as you progress, plus the Hacker.

🥶 PART 1 — Cryogenic Slumber Party

1. Turn on the power

Leave Area 51 using the teleporter and make your way through Griffin Station.

Reach the MPD/Pyramid room and turn on the power.

Then return toward the outside Receiving Bay/spawn area.

2. 🖥️ Play Samantha Says

Outside near spawn you’ll find four colored computer terminals:

🔴 Red
🟢 Green
🔵 Blue
🟡 Yellow

Watch the sequence the computers give you and repeat it by interacting with the corresponding computers.

It’s basically Simon Says.

Each successful round adds another color to the sequence. Complete the entire sequence until the computers flash to confirm success.

3. 💻 Hacker puzzle

Find the Hacker in the laboratories.

Go to Lab Level 2 and hack the special red button.

Afterward, four terminals throughout the three laboratory floors will glow green.

Find and hack all four before the timer expires.

Then return to Level 2. The four buttons there can now be activated. Activate all four quickly enough and they’ll stay lit, completing the step.

4. 🚧 Let Excavator Pi destroy Tunnel 6

This is extremely important:

You need Excavator Pi specifically.

NOT Tunnel 11.

Continue playing rounds until the announcement tells you Excavator Pi is going to breach Tunnel 6.

Let it actually breach.

After the breach happens, use the Hacker on its terminal back near spawn to shut it down.

Return to Tunnel 6.

5. ⚫ Move the Vril Sphere

You’ll find the dark sphere/“egg” around Tunnel 6 near the M16.

Interact with it to make it travel.

Follow it as it moves through the map and keep sending it forward whenever it stops.

Eventually it reaches the satellite dish above the Receiving Area.

Complete the map-specific interaction at the dish and continue following the sphere.

It eventually travels through Tunnel 11 and toward the MPD.

When it reaches the pyramid, it’ll slot into the circular indentation on the front.

6. 👻 Fill the soul container

A glass tube rises beside the pyramid.

Stay near it and eliminate approximately 25 zombies close enough for their energy to enter the tube.

Once it’s completely filled, activate the switch on the wall.

The pyramid opens…

👧 Samantha is inside.

Everyone receives a 90-second Death Machine, and:

🏆 Cryogenic Slumber Party COMPLETE

This is where the solo-capable portion ends.

🌎 PART 2 — BIG BANG THEORY

Now you’re continuing toward the full BO1 ending.

7. 🔷 Get the Casimir Plates

Return through the teleporter to Area 51.

There are two hexagonal plates sitting on a shelf off to the side.

Dislodge them, then use the required map equipment to teleport the plates.

Return to the Moon.

The plates should now be sitting on the floor near Quick Revive.

8. 🖥️ Move the plates to the computer

Use the appropriate map equipment on the plates near Quick Revive.

They’ll teleport across the room and attach themselves to the computer terminal.

Now you need one more piece.

Find the S-shaped wire.

It can spawn in several places, commonly around the laboratory, including around stairs and desks.

Pick it up and bring it to the computer.

Install the wire between the computer and Casimir Plates.

9. 🔱 Richtofen + Golden Rod

The person playing Richtofen now approaches the computer.

Richtofen places the Golden Rod/Vril Device containing the Focusing Stone between the Casimir Plates.

Keep interacting with the computer while Richtofen’s dialogue plays.

Eventually:

Computer RED → 🟢 GREEN

Take the now-charged Golden Rod back.

10. 👻 Fill FOUR MPD tubes

Return to the pyramid.

Four glass soul tubes rise—one on each corner.

Now comes the big soul-filling section:

Tube 1 = ~25 zombies
Tube 2 = ~25
Tube 3 = ~25
Tube 4 = ~25

So you’re looking at approximately:

💀 100 zombie souls total.

Stay close enough to the pyramid while getting the eliminations so the souls count.

11. 🔱 Insert the charged Golden Rod

Once all four containers are full, Richtofen inserts the charged Golden Rod into the MPD.

After the sequence finishes:

👧 Samantha and Richtofen SWITCH SOULS.

Richtofen takes control of the zombies.

You’ll even notice the zombie announcer change to Richtofen.

The Richtofen player also receives all eight perks permanently.

🚀 THE FINALE

12. Samantha Says — THREE TIMES

Go all the way back outside to the computers where you played Samantha Says at the beginning.

You’re doing the puzzle again, except now:

Complete Samantha Says 3 times in a row.

Be careful here. Have one person concentrate on reading and repeating the sequences rather than everybody hitting buttons.

Once all three games are completed, the rockets are armed.

13. ⚫ Move the sphere again

Return to the MPD.

Complete the required interaction to knock the sphere loose.

It travels back toward the outside Receiving Area.

Follow it.

When it reaches the computers outside, complete the final map-equipment interaction with the sphere.

🚀🚀🚀 BOOM

Look toward Earth.

Three rockets launch from the Moon.

They travel toward Earth…

The rockets strike Earth, completing:

🏆 BIG BANG THEORY

You’ve now completed the full BO1 Moon Easter Egg and the finale of the original Black Ops Zombies questline.
