ORIGINS — LITTLE LOST GIRL
The quest can technically be completed solo or co-op in BO2, although some steps work differently depending on player count.
Before the main quest
You’ll want to get several things ready:
- Build all 4 Elemental Staffs
- Upgrade all 4 Staffs
- Build the Maxis Drone
- Obtain G-Strike Beacons
- Eventually obtain the upgraded melee attack
Let’s start with the staffs.
🔥 FIRE STAFF
Build it
You need the Fire Record, Gramophone, and three Fire Staff pieces.
The pieces come from:
1. Defeat the first Panzer Soldat (normally Round 8).
2. Activate Generator 6 — the reward chest beside it gives a piece.
3. Shoot down the glowing airplane flying through the sky. Find the dropped piece.
Take everything underneath the Excavation Site, use the Gramophone with the appropriate record to access the Crazy Place, obtain the Fire Crystal, and build the staff.
🔥 Upgrade — Kagutsuchi’s Blood
Go into the Crazy Place with the Fire Staff.
Kill zombies on the metal grates near the fire section until the cauldrons above them ignite.
Once all four are burning, leave.
Go to the Church basement.
You’ll see numbered torches.
You need to shoot the torches corresponding to the symbols you received from the Crazy Place.
Afterward, go underneath the Excavation Site.
Rotate the giant colored rings until:
🔴 All RED sections line up.
Shoot the glowing red orb with the Fire Staff.
Return to the Crazy Place, place the Fire Staff into its pedestal, and kill zombies nearby until it’s fully charged.
🔥 Upgraded Fire Staff obtained.
❄️ ICE STAFF
Build it
You can dig up the three Ice Staff pieces while it’s snowing.
Each section of the map contains one possible piece:
Spawn area → Piece 1
Middle map → Piece 2
Church area → Piece 3
You also need the Ice Record.
Use the Gramophone to enter the Ice tunnel, obtain the Ice Crystal, and build the staff.
❄️ Upgrade — Ull’s Arrow
Enter the Crazy Place.
You’ll see symbols on the wall and corresponding symbols on the ceiling.
The puzzle uses a conversion between the dot-based symbols and the Ice Staff’s rune symbols.
Shoot the correct ceiling rune for each wall symbol until the puzzle finishes.
Then return to the normal map.
There are three gravestones you need to freeze with the Ice Staff and then shoot with a normal bullet weapon.
Once all three are destroyed, return underneath Excavation.
🔵 Align all BLUE rings.
Shoot the blue orb with the Ice Staff.
Return to the Crazy Place → place Ice Staff into its pedestal → kill zombies.
❄️ Ull’s Arrow obtained.
⚡ LIGHTNING STAFF
Build it
The three pieces are obtained by riding the tank and jumping onto normally inaccessible platforms.
There are three jumps along the tank route.
You also need the Lightning Record.
Enter the Lightning tunnel, grab the purple crystal, and construct the staff.
⚡ Upgrade — Kimat’s Bite
Go into the Crazy Place.
There’s a set of purple triangular keys that function like a piano.
Shoot them with the Lightning Staff in this order:
🎹 1-3-6
🎹 3-5-7
🎹 2-4-6
You don’t need to shoot the upper row between combinations.
Next, there are electrical panels around Origins with knobs/switches.
Rotate them so the electrical sparks disappear.
Once they’re all correct, go underneath Excavation.
🟣 Align all PURPLE rings.
Shoot the purple orb.
Place the Lightning Staff into its Crazy Place pedestal and charge it with zombie souls.
⚡ Kimat’s Bite obtained.
💨 WIND STAFF
Build it
Each giant robot contains one Wind Staff piece.
Look at the bottom of each robot’s feet.
One foot will occasionally have a glowing opening.
Shoot the glowing foot and stand underneath it so the robot steps on you.
You’ll be transported inside.
Grab the piece.
Do this for:
Freya → Church
Odin → Center
Thor → Spawn
Get the Wind Record, enter its tunnel, obtain the Wind Crystal and build the staff.
💨 Upgrade — Boreas’ Fury
Enter the Crazy Place.
Above the Wind area is a rotating circular symbol puzzle.
Rotate the rings so the symbols are arranged correctly.
Once solved, you’ll hear confirmation.
Now return to Origins.
You’ll find three smoking stone balls/chimneys around the map.
Shoot them with the Wind Staff so the smoke points toward the Excavation Site.
Once all three point inward:
Go underneath Excavation.
🟡 Align all YELLOW rings.
Shoot the yellow orb.
Place the Wind Staff into its pedestal in the Crazy Place and charge it.
💨 Boreas’ Fury obtained.
🏆 MAIN EASTER EGG
Now the real Little Lost Girl quest begins.
1. Secure the Keys
All four upgraded staffs are required.
In co-op, place the upgraded staffs into their corresponding giant robots:
💨 Wind → Odin
❄️ Ice → Freya
⚡ Lightning → Thor
🔥 Fire → pedestal underneath the Excavation Site
Once they’re correctly placed, Samantha gives you confirmation.
Solo shortcut: BO2 Origins has a special interaction involving repeatedly placing/removing the Fire Staff from its Excavation pedestal that allows this step to be completed without putting the other three staffs into the robots.
🤖 2. Ascend From Darkness
Get your staffs back.
Now you need to get inside a robot while another player waits near Generator 5/Stamin-Up.
Inside the robot is a red button.
Coordinate this carefully:
Player inside robot:
Press the red button.
Player outside:
Immediately throw a G-Strike Beacon onto the concrete seal near Generator 5.
If timed correctly, the robot fires on the seal and breaks it open.
✈️ 3. Unleash the Horde
After breaking the seal, a special aircraft appears in the sky.
Use the Maxis Drone to help complete this portion and bring the required objective back down to the map.
This triggers the next stage of the quest.
👊 4. Skewer the Winged Beast
Now head underground near the Excavation Site.
You’ll need to deal with the special zombie that appears as part of this sequence.
Complete the objective and recover the item it drops.
🧟♂️ 5. Wield a Fist of Iron
Everyone doing the quest needs the One Inch Punch.
To obtain it normally, fill all four soul chests around Origins by killing zombies nearby.
When they’re finished, go to the reward chest and claim:
👊 ONE INCH PUNCH
For the Easter Egg, you then need to upgrade it.
Go underneath the Excavation Site near the Staff pedestals.
Special glowing zombies appear.
Punch them using the One Inch Punch.
Continue until the tablet/item drops.
Pick it up.
Your melee attack becomes:
👊💥 IRON FIST
🌌 6. Raise Hell
Now take all four upgraded staffs into the Crazy Place.
Put each staff into its matching pedestal:
🔥 Fire
❄️ Ice
⚡ Lightning
💨 Wind
Once all four are inserted, the Crazy Place changes.
Now kill zombies.
Lots of them.
Their souls will travel upward into the ceiling.
Keep going until Samantha confirms that you’ve collected enough energy.
🤖 7. Freedom
Deploy the Maxis Drone inside the Crazy Place.
The drone flies upward into the portal.
A bright beam appears.
At this point, you’ve essentially completed the Easter Egg.
If you want to continue playing, don’t activate the final portal yet.
But if you’re ready…
Everyone interacts with the portal.
The screen fades.
🎬 ORIGINS ENDING
You receive:
🏆 LITTLE LOST GIRL
The ending cutscene plays, revealing Samantha and Eddie playing with toys representing the Zombies characters and events.
And that brings us to the end of the Black Ops II Zombies main Easter Egg journey.
