Operation Excision can be completed SOLO or co-op, and you can begin setting it up at World Tier 3.

1. 🌎 Reach World Tier 3

Play Outbreak normally through the first two regions.

Use this time to upgrade your armor, perks and equipment, because once we reach the final escort, there’s a point of no return.

Once you’re on World Tier 3, we’re looking for something unusual:

🔴 A RED AETHER RIFT

One important exception: Sanatorium itself doesn’t contain the quest’s red rift. If World 3 happens to be Sanatorium, progress to another region and look there.

2. 🔴 Enter the Red Rift

Find the hidden red portal somewhere in the region and jump through it.

You’ll suddenly be launched:

☁️ WAY UP INTO THE SKY.

Open your parachute and look for another red rift floating in the air.

Fly through it.

You’ll get launched again.

Find the next one.

🔴 RIFT → 🔴 RIFT → 🔴 RIFT

Don’t miss one! If the rift disappears before you reach it, you’ll generally need to progress to another region and try again.

3. 📡 Get the Beacon Listening Device

After successfully traveling through the rifts, an object gets launched through the sky with you.

Watch where it falls.

Land nearby and collect:

📡 BEACON LISTENING DEVICE

Now finish your region’s normal objective and head to the Beacon.

4. 📞 Respond to Ravenov

Interact with the Beacon.

A new option appears:

RESPOND

Select it.

Ravenov contacts the strike team and tells you about the Omega Eight—scientists supposedly waiting for extraction.

Afterward, use the Beacon to warp.

Your destination is forced to:

🌙 SANATORIUM — NIGHT

5. 🚁 Find the crashed helicopter

Travel to Carved Hills.

You’ll find a crashed helicopter surrounded by enemies.

Clear the area.

Inside the helicopter is an:

📻 OMEGA AUDIO RECORDING

Interact with it.

Something is already starting to feel wrong about this rescue mission.

6. 🔴 Find the Aethereal Orb

Somewhere around Sanatorium is a strange:

🔴 RED AETHEREAL ORB

It resembles the normal Outbreak Aether Orb, but this one is part of the quest.

When you hit it, the orb moves away from you.

The objective is to push it toward the:

🌉 BRIDGE

where the Aetherium Neutralizer Rover is located.

Position yourself on the opposite side from where you want it to travel and keep directing it toward the bridge.

Eventually it’ll hover above the Rover.

But it refuses to enter.

Apparently our supernatural red ball has standards. 😂

7. 🐰 Find the Aether Bunny

Now search the inactive/broken Mystery Box locations around Sanatorium.

One contains an:

🐰 AETHER BUNNY

Interact with it.

The bunny starts doing its thing while enemies swarm you.

Clear the wave.

Afterward, pick up the bunny.

Carrying it temporarily replaces your Field Upgrade.

8. 🐰 Bring the Bunny to the Rover

Return to the bridge.

Place the Aether Bunny into the cage on the Rover.

The red orb finally enters the Rover as well.

Congratulations.

Our sophisticated dimensional-travel machine is now powered by:

🔴 Weird floating orb

plus

🐰 Stuffed bunny.

Requiem engineering at its finest. 😂

⚠️ POINT OF NO RETURN

DO NOT START THE ROVER UNTIL YOU’RE READY.

Once you activate it, you’re committed to the finale and lose access to the normal setup facilities.

Make sure your armor is repaired, equipment is stocked and your setup is ready for a large final fight.

9. 🚙 Escort the Rover

Activate the Rover.

It creates an:

🟣 AETHERIUM NEUTRALIZER BUBBLE

Stay inside the protective bubble.

Outside the bubble, the hostile environment starts damaging you.

The Rover slowly moves across the bridge and into the previously inaccessible portion of Sanatorium.

Enemies continuously attack.

Keep moving with it until you reach:

🏛️ MONUMENT WALK

10. 🧑‍🔬 Find the Omega scientists

Go onto the roof of the Monument.

Remember those scientists we came all this way to rescue?

Yeah…

They’re already dead.

😐

Find the Omega recording beside them and interact with it.

You’ve been lured into a trap.

An Exfil countdown begins.

🚨 11. GET TO EAST GARDENS

Move immediately toward:

🌳 EAST GARDENS

That’s your extraction zone.

A huge number of enemies are waiting.

And because a regular Exfil would apparently be too easy…

Something enormous arrives.

👹 ORDA

Yep.

ORDA IS BACK.

Unlike Legion, there’s no complicated armor-and-orb puzzle here. This is essentially a brutal Exfil battle: eliminate Orda and the remaining hostiles before the extraction timer expires.

12. 🚁 EXFIL!

Once Orda and the required enemies are defeated:

RUN TO THE HELICOPTER.

Board before the timer expires.

Raptor-1 takes off.

Mission accomplished!

…

For approximately five seconds. 😂

💥 13. THE HELICOPTER GOES DOWN

During the ending, the team’s helicopter is attacked.

💥🚁

Raptor-1 and the strike team crash.

And an Omega voice delivers the bad news: getting home was never part of the plan.

Requiem’s strike team has just been captured.
